SUMMARY:

The Senior Process Control Engineer will have the responsibility for engineering and design of industrial process control systems, including overseeing installation, assisting with commissioning, and start-up of new process control components or systems.  The administration and management of capital projects is required as well as providing input in the development and execution of the company wide capital program.  Assisting mill staff in diagnosing and rectifying operational problems with existing process control systems hardware and software may also be required.  Travel and on-site support during project construction, commissioning, start-up, and operational improvement stages to US domestic and International sites should be anticipated. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Leadership, Management, and execution of assigned projects.  This may include managing the schedule, cost, scope, and project objectives.
  2. Effective execution and completion of assigned tasks as a process control member of a team executing a larger project.
  3. Administration of assigned projects including the preparation of capital project requests, project status reporting, participating in and or conducting project meetings, coordination of construction activities, and project close-out reporting.
  4. Responsible for all stages of capital project engineering and design activity to include the development of alternative solutions to meet project objectives for presentation to management.
  5. Oversee construction work performed by mill maintenance and/or outside contractors during installation, commissioning, and start-up of assigned projects.
  6. Ensure adherence of established H&V safety policies and practices.
  7. Conduct training of operations and maintenance personnel as needed.
  8. Assist mill maintenance and production departments in troubleshooting and correction of equipment and process problems
  9. It is essential that the person have access to ITAR and other export controlled information.  The candidate should be either a US citizen or green card holder.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. BS or MS in Engineering, preferably Electrical.
  2. Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a process-related industry facility and/or an industrial consulting engineering design firm with relevant hands on experience, including project management experience.
  3. Working knowledge of various DCS control systems including experience with Allen Bradley PLC’s, Intellution/Wonderware HMI, and ABB QCS Systems.
  4. International project experience desirable.
  5. Professional engineering license preferred.
  6. Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate preferred.

 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENT:

  1. The position will be working in and around the operating floors so all the typical restrictions that would apply to our production personnel would apply. 
  2. Person needs to be able to walk up and down stairs and work in tight or confined areas.
  3. Often person is working with live electrical circuits and must be able to wear the necessary PPE to prevent injury.
  4. Person must be able to hear with ear plugs, see well enough with safety glasses to work in a production environment, speak clearly to be understood by hourly employees for training and to provide direction, walk and stand on concrete floors for a considerable period of time, climb stairs and ladders, and work with a computer screen for long periods of time.

SUMMARY:

The electrical and controls engineer will be responsible for the electrical power and control systems including design engineering, maintenance engineering, and operations. This person will budget, procure, install, and oversee the start­up of electrical and controls projects in the plant, and will provide training to operators and maintenance personnel. Establish and execute the instrumentation and control strategy related to the manufacturing and environmental control processes. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leadership for troubleshooting and maintaining plant equipment of all processes and development of safety procedures for the installation, repair and maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Leadership for development and implementation of the operation and programming Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's) and process data management systems.
  • Leadership for Development of Capital Project preparation, drive process capability improvements, contractor management and project execution.
  • Develop technician’s skills through training plans that provide a framework of various levels of training and experience to be used as a mechanism for incremental advancement in responsibility and duties.
  • Ability to use appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment to repair, install, replace, and test electrical circuits and equipment.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair electrical controls industrial motor control centers, programmable logic and controllers.
  • Ability to read commercial electrical blueprints and apply NEC through the full range of commercial and industrial maintenance work.
  • Ability to install and maintain motors, lighting fixtures, circuit breakers, and transformers.
  • Develop and implement electrical and mechanical preventative maintenance schedule.
  • Ability to isolate defects in wiring, switches, motors and other electrical equipment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline is required.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a mechanical or electrical discipline.
  • Experience in maintaining departmental budgets and management systems.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Training in Six Sigma techniques and statistical analysis tools highly desirable 
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office programs (excel, word, access, power point).
  • Skilled in leading people with good verbal and written communication skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENT:

  • This position is at times “hands on” when necessary to assist with completing the work and consists of a high level time spent throughout the facility and machines.  Including climbing stairs, stooping, kneeling and bending.  Occasional lifting of items roughly 25 lbs.
  • Frequent periods with extended times working at a desk and on a computer.
  • Facility activity can and will include access to PSM covered areas of the mill with exposure to highly dangerous material and environments.

Participates in research and development activities linked to new product development initiatives using established mathematical and scientific techniques.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.  Lead product or process development projects.

  • Work directly with customers and Division Sales & Marketing to develop new products for existing markets identified by the division.
  • Develop expertise in appropriate materials technology, as necessary to plan, execute and evaluate laboratory and machine-based trial programs, using the Design of Experiments methodology.

2.  Interface internally and externally.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Summary:
