SUMMARY:

The Electrical Engineering Manager will have the responsibility for overseeing the engineering and design of industrial process electrical distribution systems, including overseeing installation, assisting with commissioning, and start-up of new electrical distribution components or systems. All electrical engineers will report to the Electrical Engineering Manager. As the Manager of the group, the development of the electrical engineering staff and assigning projects to the staff is expected. The administration and management of capital projects is required as well as providing input in the development and execution of the company wide capital program. Assisting mill staff in diagnosing and rectifying operational problems with existing electrical infrastructure systems hardware and software may also be required. Travel and on-site support during project construction, commissioning, start-up, and operational improvement stages to US domestic and International sites should be anticipated.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leadership and oversight of projects assigned to the electrical engineering group. This may include managing the project schedule, cost, scope, and objectives.
  • Development and training of the Electrical Engineers.
  • Setting of company standards for the electrical distribution system.
  • Effective execution and completion of assigned tasks as an Electrical Engineer of a team executing a larger project.
  • Administration of assigned projects including the preparation of capital project requests, project status reporting, participating in and or conducting project meetings, coordination of construction activities, and project close-out reporting.
  • Responsible for all stages of capital project engineering and design activity to include the development of alternative solutions to meet project objectives for presentation to management.
  • Oversee construction work performed by mill maintenance and/or outside contractors during installation, commissioning, and start-up of assigned projects.
  • Ensure adherence of established H&V safety policies and practices.
  • Conduct training of operations and maintenance personnel as needed.
  • 10. Assist mill maintenance and production departments in troubleshooting and correction of equipment and electrical problems
  • 11. It is essential that the person have access to ITAR and other export controlled information. The candidate should be either a US citizen or green card holder.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the electrical distribution industry and/or an industrial consulting engineering design firm with relevant hands on experience, including project management experience. Electrical distribution in the paper industry preferred.
  • International project experience desirable.
  • Professional engineering license preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENT: 

  • The position will be working in and around the operating floors so all the typical restrictions that would apply to our production personnel would apply. 
  • Person needs to be able to walk up and down stairs and work in tight or confined areas.
  • Often person is working with live electrical circuits and must be able to wear the necessary PPE to prevent injury.
  • Person must be able to hear with ear plugs, see well enough with safety glasses to work in a production environment, speak clearly to be understood by hourly employees for training and to provide direction, walk and stand on concrete floors for a considerable period of time, climb stairs and ladders, and work with a computer screen for long periods of time.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

1. A minimum of a BA or BS in a technical discipline; MBA preferred.

2. Automotive industry experience required (OEM or Tier 1 preferred). Business to business (B2B) marketing in industrial or technical markets a plus.

3. Experience in primary and secondary market research methodologies; pricing, segmentation, positioning, marketing communication and strategy development required.

The Health and Safety Manager will plan, direct, and implement health and safety programs and policies for the West Groton Mill. This person will be responsible for the health and safety of the mill in compliance with all Federal, State, and Local Government regulations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures the health and safety of all employees, visitors and contractors through the adherence to all applicable standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Develop plans, programs, and implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with all governmental safety and health rules and regulations.
  • Plans and implements programs to train managers, supervisors, and employees in work site safety practices, loss prevention, ergonomics, and correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment, and other materials. 
  • Prepares studies and analyses of industrial accident causes and hazards to health for use by company personnel and outside agencies.  Assist supervisors in accident investigation and direct analysis of accident data to develop procedures or controls to prevent recurrence. Institute JSA into work practice.

  • Develop and administer the plant emergency procedures and first aid, including planned drills. Maintain relationship with local town, county, and/or city emergency response departments.
  • Inspect facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards; determine corrective or preventative measures where indicated; and follow up to ensure measures have been implemented.
  • Direct and conduct sampling and studies (air, noise, ergonomics, etc.) to identify health and safety hazards to employees. Analyze results to recommend corrective measures via engineering and/or administrative controls as appropriate.
  • In conjunction with appropriate production, engineering and maintenance staff, review and approve all process, plant and equipment plans and revisions thereof for risk assessment and evaluation of the effectiveness of same regarding safe working environment.
  • Partners with plant, regional and corporate resources to implement proactive solutions to minimize at risk conditions and at risk behaviors.

SUMMARY:

The role of the Quality Manager is to ensure the product H&V provides is fit for use, is consistent and meets both external and internal requirements. The Quality Manager monitors and advises on the performance of the mill quality management system and produces data and reports on performance measuring against set standards. They will advise changes and how to implement such, providing training, tools and techniques to enable others to achieve quality standards. This role also holds responsibility for supporting the development and maintenance of a continuous improvement, customer-focused culture within the mill.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Achieves quality assurance operational objectives by contributing information and analysis to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer service standards; identifying and resolving problems; completing audits; determining system improvements; implementing change.
  • Develops quality assurance plans by conducting hazard analyses; identifying critical control points and preventive measures; establishing critical limits, monitoring procedures, corrective actions, and verification procedures; monitoring inventories.
  • Validates quality processes by establishing product specifications and quality attributes; measuring production; documenting evidence; determining operational and performance qualification; writing and updating quality assurance procedures.

  • Ensure an effective quality process which (1) ensures raw material CoA requirements are met and logged within the mill quality system prior to use (2) executes raw material testing as required. Notify mill network of relevant supplier quality issues through the use of the Quality Alert. Support supplier audits as required; ensure suppliers execute appropriate corrective actions relating to H&V supplier complaints.
  • Accomplishes human resource objectives by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures.

SUMMARY:

  • Lead and support maintenance manager with reliability initiatives and efforts to continually improve assets.
  • Lead and support engineering manager and design of all capital projects for the plant.
  • Provide Project Management technical leadership for all phases of capital project engineering and design activity to include requirements documentation, development of alternative solutions to meet project goals including presentation to management as needed; perform engineering design, configuration and system integration or overseeing this work performed by others including preparation of engineering requisitions for purchase. 
  • Lead the development of the annual capital project program for new equipment and major repairs through the management of assigned capital projects and project leaders. Responsible for effective project management, project team leadership/coordination, and administration of assigned projects.
  • Leadership for the development and implementation for safe electrical and process control maintenance practices and Engineering design for all installed equipment and for all new equipment installations.
  • And other related duties as assigned or required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • BS in Engineering, preferably Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Civil, Environmental, or Paper Science.
  • 7 (seven) years of prior experience, including employment in a process‐related industrial facility and/or an industrial consulting engineering design firm with relevant experience and skills.
  • Must have strong Project Management Skills and Competencies.
  • Investigate and stay abreast of new technologies and display leadership to conceptualize projects, including identifying the technologies to be used for new applications and extensions of existing architecture.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple priorities, and establish and meet financial and schedule constraints;
  • Must be highly motivated and have the ability to work both independently and as a team leader and player.
  • Must interact well and coordinate efforts with plant operations, engineering, and maintenance staff;
  • Ability to effectively manage project teams made up of in-house and outside resources;
  • Ability to effectively work on projects remotely through the use of remote project management tools and routine site visits;
  • Working knowledge of computers and application of software to develop and communicate engineering solutions (including MS Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint and Exchange, AutoCad, others).

  • Can be required to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Can be required to remain on feet in an upright position for continuous periods of time.
  • Needs to climb ladders & work in overhead areas such as a warehouse environment.

  • Can be requires carrying objects in arms.

  • Requires physical ability to operate inside a manufacturing environment that includes hot ambient temperatures and high humidity.
  • Occasional overtime and/or working on weekends or recognized Holidays is required, when circumstances dictate (i.e. shutdowns, breakdowns, work related travel, etc.);
  • Occasional air travel may be required with in the US and internationally;
  • Professional engineering license / certification is desirable.

SUMMARY: 

Participates in complex research and development activities linked to new product initiatives using established mathematical and scientific techniques. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build up a detailed, in-depth knowledge of H&V’s process for making innovative fine-fiber materials.
  • Work directly with Technology product teams to develop new products for existing markets identified by the business units.
  • Work with manufacturing, purchasing and technology on Profit Improvement Initiatives (PIP).  Lead cross-functional teams for new products and/or advanced processes.
  • Benchmark competitor technology and grades.
  • Provide Technical guidance to management, Business Unit (Sales & Marketing), customers and manufacturing on new and modified product development efforts.
  • Develop expertise in appropriate media technology, as necessary to plan, execute and evaluate laboratory and machine-based trial programs, using the Design of Experiments (DoE) methodology.
  • Use appropriate DFSS/DFM tools and stage gating process for development projects.
  • Keep abreast of relevant industry, intellectual property, applications and materials technology trends through literature, seminars and market contact.
  • Supervise and mentor directly allocated technicians to develop maximum potential.
  • Work in highly energized cross functional project teams on major product development initiatives.
  • Provide technical reports and presentations to internal and external project stakeholders.
  • Work with legal, to patent new inventions and expand intellectual property portfolio.
  • Supervises Laboratory Technician(s) while also developing their technical and personal skill base to maximum potential.
  • May require leadership of cross-functional product/process teams. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience.
  • Six Sigma methodology and Lean manufacturing principals.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required
