SUMMARY:

Leads product support and R&D activities for lead-acid battery products including adsorptive glass mat (AGM) separators used in VRLA batteries. Leads technical support to enable customers to be successful with H&V products including support during customer trials of building batteries. Leads new product and process initiatives using established scientific techniques leading to commercialization of products. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Product & applications support – Interface externally
    • Provide expert technical guidance to the customers regarding H&V products.
    • Support customer trials of building batteries for enabling rapid qualification of H&V products.
    • Assist Division Sales and Marketing with technical service in the selection of existing grades capable of meeting stated technical and processing requirements.
    • Work with Division Sales and Marketing team for seamless introduction of new products including customer technical & trial support
    • Be knowledgeable test methods used to determine physical characteristics of the material as well as its performance in the end use application.
    • Be knowledgeable about battery test methods.
    • Understand the relevant end use application.
    • Keep abreast of relevant industry, applications and materials technology trends through literature, seminars and market contacts.
  • Lead product or process development projects
    • Work directly with customers and Division Sales & Marketing to develop new products for existing markets identified by the division.
    • Develop expertise in appropriate materials technology, as necessary to plan, execute and evaluate laboratory and machine-based trial programs, using the Design of Experiments methodology.
    • Use appropriate DFSS/DFM tools and Stage Gate process for development projects.
    • Work with manufacturing, purchasing and technology on Margin Improvement Initiatives (MIPs).
    • Benchmark competitor grades and technologies.
    • Patent novel inventions.
  • Interface internally
    • Provide technical guidance to management, divisions, customers and manufacturing on new and modified product development efforts.
    • Communicate plans and results effectively.
    • Influence scientists and managers at multiple locations.
    • Work with laboratory technicians to achieve product development objectives
    • Provide technical reports and presentations to internal and external project stakeholders, including contributions to knowledge management system.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • MS, BS, or higher in Chemical Engineering, Electrochemistry, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in lead acid industry including experience in VRLA batteries with AGM separators.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership, project management and time management skills.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt preferred. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must be willing to travel 50-60% of the time
  • Must be willing to work out of an office in West Groton, MA

SUMMARY:

The Controls Engineer is responsible for implementing operations and capital improvement activities related to plant and equipment. This position leads process control and instrumentation upgrades and modifications, ensuring a high level of manufacturing effectiveness. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages projects for safety, quality, productivity, asset reliability, process improvement, cost reduction and other business objective improvement.
  • Projects from initial concept and scope development through design, procurement, construction/installation and start-up.
  • Designs and drafts systems of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic controls for machines and equipment such as programmable controllers.
  • Provides instruction in operation, set-up, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and ensure work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures.
  • Heavily involved in continuous improvement plans across the manufacturing environment.
  • Utilize your background in Electrical Hardware, Automation Systems, and Process Control Systems. Specifically, a high level of proficiency in Allen-Bradley ControlLogix/Compactlogix/SLC 500/PLC 5, PLCs, Kinetix Servo systems, FactorytalkView SE/ME applications, configuring and setting up Powerflex DC/AC VFDs, DeviceNet and ControlNet, Ethernet communications.
  • Support the planning, prioritizing, and reviewing the technical plans for engineering/maintenance of the production and facility equipment including the preparation of project plans, schedules, budgets and proposals.
  • Troubleshoot issues with the Rockwell Systems – SCADA, MES, PLCs, VFDs and Servos, IO and Safety Devices.
  • Be proficient in Software Development - PLC programming, IO Configuration, SCADA/HMI programming and computer communication systems and network protocols – Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet.
  • Prepare system integration plans, system specification, system architecture drawings, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, equipment tag list, configurations, HMI screens, and a bill of materials.
  • Establish schedules and methods for providing services; identifying resource needs; reviewing needs,  allocating resources accordingly, and effectively communicating action plans/repairs.
  • Participate in the development of control policies and procedures and making recommendations for changes and improvements to existing standards and procedures.

The Director, Global Marketing is responsible for the strategy and profitable growth of the Cleanroom market segment. The “Cleanroom Segment Leader” is expected to understand, communicate and influence market trends and to develop and execute strategies that position H&V as the market leader. This global marketing position is delegated with leading and aligning a cross-functional team to develop, manufacture, and sell H&V solutions. This position reports directly to the Division President, HESF.

  • Develops and communicates global market growth strategy
  • Work closely with product management, sales, segment leadership, operations and R&D to develop and commercialize new products.

  • Responsible for pricing strategy
  • Lead field-marketing efforts. Develop a deep understanding of the value chains for the target markets and applications; how and why customers and end-users use competitive products and how H&V could provide a superior, differentiated solution.
  • Generates global and regional market data – market size, customers, competition, shares, CAGR’s
  • Develop global pricing/profitability strategies and guidelines

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

SUMMARY:

The Manager of Electrical & Instrumentation will provide electrical maintenance leadership for the repair and maintenance of electrical power distribution and process control systems. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follow corporate policies and objectives around the implementation of process control systems and power distribution systems at the mills, in alignment with goals established by the Director of Engineering and Corporate strategies.
  • Direct supervisory responsibility for assigned staff.  
  • As a lead technical resource within the mill, this individual will have responsibility for engineering and design of industrial process control and/or power distribution systems, administering capital projects (project management) and assisting in the development and effective execution of the capital program.
  • Assist mill staff in diagnosing and rectifying operational problems with process control and /or power distribution systems
  • Directs production, contractor, and maintenance personnel on maintenance repairs reliability initiatives and system calibrations
  • Obtains quotes for equipment and services from consultants and contractors
  • Assists in the development of control system equipment and logic
  • Creates and manages preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize unscheduled down time
  • Complies with all safety, environmental, and quality requirements established by external and internal regulations

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 10 years experience, including employment in a process-related industrial facility and/or an industrial consulting engineering design firm with relevant hands on experience.
  • Must have high level of knowledge of electric drives and power distribution systems and the ability to conceptualize projects, including identifying the technologies to be used for new applications and extensions of existing architecture.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to demonstrate excellent planning and prioritization skills by effectively handling multiple tasks, and establishing and meeting financial and schedule objectives. 
  • Working knowledge of computers (MS Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint and Exchange, and AutoCad). 
  • Current MA Electrical Masters License preferred, MA Journeyman Electrical License required
  • Experience with high voltage systems along with Allen Bradley PLC background
  • Supervisory experience preferably in an union environment
  • Prior Paper Industry experience and P.E. license desirable.  

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENT:

  • Overtime and/or working on weekends or recognized holidays is required, when circumstances dictate (i.e. shutdowns, breakdowns, work related travel, etc.).
  • Ability to work in a production environment with both high and low temperature areas and the ability to wear all required PPE – safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection and occasionally cut proof gloves, dust masks, respirators, chemical suits and/or face shields.
  • Have the ability to interact at all times of the day with employees, contractors, agency representatives and members of the community in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of high stress
  • Have the ability to frequently sit at a computer, potentially for extended periods of time
  • Have the ability to occasionally lift objects up to 50 lbs
  • Have the ability to occasionally climb roof ladder, stepladders, and stairs and walk elevated catwalks
  • Have the stamina to stand and flexibility to stretch/reach, bend/stoop, squat and kneel repetitively during the work day

SUMMARY:

The Mill Scheduler is responsible for scheduling incoming customer and stock replenishment orders for production and confirming order ship dates to the Customer service team. The Mill Scheduler works closely with the site Supply Chain and Operation Teams, as well as the corporate Customer Service Team. This position strives to achieve the highest levels of customer satisfaction with minimum inventory investment and maximum production efficiency.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Schedule incoming customer (CO) and stock replenishment (SR) orders for production following the Supply Chain Scheduling Procedure.
  • Develop and distribute production cycle schedules based upon Annual Operating Plan (AOP) forecasts and efficient product family sequencing.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain Team and Business Units in order to meet or exceed customer On Time Delivery (OTD) and On Time Delivery in Full (OTIF) targets.
  • Identify opportunities to utilize and optimize Finished Good (FG) stocking levels.
  • Maintain planning system (TIPS) input parameters such as planning horizons, lead times, run quantities, trimming, cycles, etc.
  • Confirm order ship (CTA) dates daily.
  • Create and confirm production runs and assign available finished goods daily.
  • Work with asset owners to confirm order priorities.
  • Work with Operations Manager to optimize sequencing of grades to aid in meeting machine yield targets.
  • Adhere to weekly schedule lock process per the Supply Chain Scheduling Procedure.
  • Complete runs in TIPS, re-plan any relevant balances, and communicate shortages to Supply Chain and Customer Service Teams.
  • Maintain the asset production schedules, review daily, and update as necessary.
  • Manage customer and production order changes.
  • Advise stakeholders of any significant changes in the asset schedules.
  • Support Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) activities by providing quarterly updates to projected cycle run quantities by grade to Supply Chain Manager.
  • Track and present status of backlog weekly.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in materials management or business with at least 2 years of experience in manufacturing, production planning, and materials control function. Or, two years of production/material control experience in lieu of each one year of formal education. APICS certification is a plus.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Tieto / TIPS applications experience in preferred, but not required. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENT:

  • Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of force greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
