SUMMARY:

Leads research and development activities for microglass fiber processing, including battery separators. Leads new product / process initiatives using established scientific techniques leading to commercialization of products. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Fiber development and processing responsibilities
    • Provide expert microglass fiber chemistry and processing guidance to the Battery R&D group to develop new materials and processes for fiber production.
    • For product design, understand and utilize all aspects of glass fiber chemistry and processing.
    • Lead fiber materials testing activities, including characterization, chemistry, and morphology.
    • Develop test plans and protocols for fiber technology development and evaluation.
    • Perform glass chemistry and fiberization trials for microglass fiber manufacture, including engineering processing and characterization.
    • Product development and testing will include affects on downstream processes for battery separator products.
  • Lead product or process development projects.
    • Work directly with Technology product developers, Operations, and other glass plant personnel to develop new materials and processes for fiber production.
    • Develop expertise in appropriate materials technology, as necessary to plan, execute and evaluate laboratory and machine-based trial programs, using the Design of Experiments methodology.
    • Use appropriate DFSS/DFM tools and Stage Gate process for development projects.
    • Work with manufacturing, purchasing and technology on Margin Improvement Initiatives (MIPs).
    • Benchmark competitor grades and technologies.
    • Patent novel inventions.
  • Interface internally and externally.
    • Develop introductory relationships with customers and vendors.
    • Provide technical guidance to management, divisions, customers and manufacturing on new and modified product development efforts.
    • Communicate plans and results effectively.
    • Influence scientists and managers at multiple locations.
    • Supervise laboratory technicians to achieve product development objectives and develop technician’s technical and personal skill base to maximum potential.
    • Provide technical reports and presentations to internal and external project stakeholders, including contributions to knowledge management system.
  • Understand the relevant end use application.
    • Assist the Division plants with technical service in the selection and troubleshooting of fiber grades capable of meeting stated technical and processing requirements.
    • Keep abreast of relevant industry, applications and materials technology trends through literature, seminars and market contact.
    • Be knowledgeable about test methods used to determine physical characteristics of the material as well as its performance in the end use application.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Ph.D in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or Glass Science OR MS degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or Glass Science plus 3 years relevant R&D work experience OR BS degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or Glass Science plus 5 years relevant R&D work experience.
  • Strong leadership, project management, time management and communication skills.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt preferred.
  • Effective team participant in product or process development programs.
  • Basic knowledge of how to run a patent search for education, FTO or prior art purposes.

SUMMARY:

  • Electrochemistry & battery testing responsibilities
    • Provide expert electrochemistry guidance to the Battery R&D group.

SUMMARY:

The Controls Engineer is responsible for implementing operations and capital improvement activities related to plant and equipment. This position leads process control and instrumentation upgrades and modifications, ensuring a high level of manufacturing effectiveness. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages projects for safety, quality, productivity, asset reliability, process improvement, cost reduction and other business objective improvement.
  • Projects from initial concept and scope development through design, procurement, construction/installation and start-up.
  • Designs and drafts systems of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic controls for machines and equipment such as programmable controllers.
  • Provides instruction in operation, set-up, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and ensure work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures.
  • Heavily involved in continuous improvement plans across the manufacturing environment.
  • Utilize your background in Electrical Hardware, Automation Systems, and Process Control Systems. Specifically, a high level of proficiency in Allen-Bradley ControlLogix/Compactlogix/SLC 500/PLC 5, PLCs, Kinetix Servo systems, FactorytalkView SE/ME applications, configuring and setting up Powerflex DC/AC VFDs, DeviceNet and ControlNet, Ethernet communications.
  • Support the planning, prioritizing, and reviewing the technical plans for engineering/maintenance of the production and facility equipment including the preparation of project plans, schedules, budgets and proposals.
  • Troubleshoot issues with the Rockwell Systems – SCADA, MES, PLCs, VFDs and Servos, IO and Safety Devices.
  • Be proficient in Software Development - PLC programming, IO Configuration, SCADA/HMI programming and computer communication systems and network protocols – Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet.
  • Prepare system integration plans, system specification, system architecture drawings, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, equipment tag list, configurations, HMI screens, and a bill of materials.
  • Establish schedules and methods for providing services; identifying resource needs; reviewing needs,  allocating resources accordingly, and effectively communicating action plans/repairs.
  • Participate in the development of control policies and procedures and making recommendations for changes and improvements to existing standards and procedures.

SUMMARY:

Hollingsworth & Vose is in search of a Customer Service Manager for their North America region. We are looking for a change agent with experience in the development and execution of a strategic customer service vision, leading to best in class order fulfillment and customer experience. The chosen candidate will build upon H&V’s existing systems, knowledge, and customer relationships to lead our customer service organization on the next step in their journey toward excellence. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Create and implement a 5yr Customer Service Vision, which will enable H&V to offer a best in class customer experience
  • Design an organizational structure to support the customer service vision.
  • Lead the H&V Customer Service Team (Currently 10 CSR’s) on their next step in the journey toward Customer Service Excellence 
    • Owning the order management process from PO to Invoice – Thinking proactively to anticipate and answer the “next question”, Using advanced problem solving to go the extra step in finding and providing answers
    • Becoming a trusted resource - Leading the tactical interaction with H&V’s customer base, building strong buyer level relationships, and providing timely and accurate communications
    • Acting as a customer advocate – conveying customers perspective while balancing H&V’s business goals
  • Ensure employee engagement within the customer service team, including job satisfaction, recognition and rewards, training, and career development
  • Coordinate with functional and regional leaders to develop, reinforce, and/or improve upon existing processes and procedures including IT needs, training/testing, and data management requirements 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 3 to 5 years prior customer service team management in a B2B environment or equivalent customer facing experience preferred
  • Proven ability to lead organizational change in a matrixed structure
  • Previous experience with systems implementations including experience testing, and training on processes and systems.
  • Experience in export/import compliance and international trade, with a company that manufactures products controlled by ITAR preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Capable of building an effective team and leading them through change
  • Competency in Oracle or other ERP system and Microsoft Office Suite

SUMMARY:

To be responsible for carrying out, planning and directing the electrical, instrumentation, and control maintenance & engineering activities of East Walpole, MA Plant. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintenance of the assets to achieve the best standards of reliability, safety and operational efficiency.
  • Actively drive the planning and scheduling process so as to deliver a safe and efficient maintenance performance that will support the mill whilst in operation and during planned shut periods. This work will cover all Electrical, Instrumentation and process control equipment supporting the paper machines, finishing equipment and other essential support services.
  • Actively drive the CMMS system to ensure maintenance works are planned and scheduled in a timely manner that ensures best possible use of resources and maximizes machine availability.
  • Use the sites reliability metrics to monitor progress of the department’s maintenance activities and look for ways to continually improve performance.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to maintenance procedures, standards and practices.
  • Maintain stock control procedures.
  • Purchase maintenance items.
  • Exercise control over the costs of maintenance and project activities to ensure budgets are not exceeded.
  • Design, plan, purchase and develop Electrical, instrumentation and process control projects in conjunction with the Engineer Manager.
  • Maintain the upkeep of records and drawings.
  • Chair the Energy reduction team and assist in the development of new ideas around Energy saving opportunities.
  • Deal with selection, training, motivation and discipline of staff. Have a proven track record of people management and team leadership.
  • Monitor the department call out and covering function that support the mill outside the normal working days. Also be prepared to cover your team during this time if necessary.
  • Co-operate at all times with other Departments. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have a BSC in one of the following disciplines: Electrical Engineering or Instrumental Systems Engineering and up to date relevant experience of five (5) years.
  • Must be a certified as a Master Electrician in Massachusetts.
  • A papermaking background is desirable.
  • Lean Manufacturing Concepts.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma Green Belt and Black Belt principles.
  • Must have good problem solving.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact at all levels.
  • Able to led by example and have a hands on approach.
  • Back Belt Certification in Six Sigma desirable.
  • Kaizen Principles and Concepts a plus.
  • 5S Methodology Principles and Concepts preferable.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Oracle.
